After many months of rumors and hopes for a Shimano Micro Spline driveshell from Chris King, the company finally announced that it will be releasing hubs and conversion kits for existing Boost and Super-Boost hubs around the end of January, 2020! It's available for Pre-Order now with delivery start Feb.

Chris King Micro Spline Driveshells are on their way If you've been holding off on getting that Chris Hub because you couldn't use it with Shimano's new 12 speed mountain groups, the wait is nearly over!

Chris King Micro Spline driveshell

Chris King noted that this is their lightest driveshell to date, and the weight savings comes from a new bearing and axle.  This means that like the company's other recent driveshell conversions, it requires a conversion kit that has a driveshell, bearing, axle, and supporting small parts.  You'll be able to convert all ISO-B Boost and ISO-DH Super Boost hubs, and those models of hub will be available stock with the Micro Spline driveshell too.  Finally, as with all current Chris King products, there will be a lifetime warranty on the bearings of these driveshells.

Here's a list of the configurations that will be available for the Chris King's Micro Spline driveshell:

  • ISO-B rear hubs with 148 x 12mm Boost axles and ceramic or stainless steel bearings.  These will be available in 24, 28, or 32 hole spoke hole drillings.
  • ISO-DH rear hubs with 157 x 12mm Super Boost axles and ceramic or stainless steel bearings.  These hubs will be available in 28 or 32 hole spoke hole drillings.
  • Conversion kits for ISO-B Boost and ISO-DH Super Boost hubs will be available in 148 x 12mm and 157 x 12mm axle configurations (respectively).  The conversion kits will be available with either ceramic or stainless steel bearings.

Here's the product page to order the upgrade kit. You'll also find an option on all Boost rear hubs to purchase the hub with this already installed.
